This Giving Tuesday, Donate to Help Flood Survivors in East Kentucky!
Give Now to Help Build New Homes for Flood Survivors
We Need Your Help to Build More Homes for Flood Survivors!
It's been 2 years since a 1,000-year flood devastated East Kentucky, but families are still recovering. In Breathitt, Knott, and Perry counties, which are 3 of the 4 hardest hit counties and where we are the only affordable housing developer, around 500 homes were lost. That's 500 families left displaced and without a home. To date, we have provided 31 new homes for those flood survivors, but as you can see, the need is still HUGE. We must build HUNDREDS more homes, and we need your help to do it!
Your support today could make all the difference for one of these families. We are currently working with 176 flood survivors towards owning a new home, and with our "high ground" projects, like Skyview in Perry County, Chestnut Ridge in Knott County, and Highland Avenue in Breathitt County beginning construction soon, we will have even more families applying for new homes! All of these families need an extraordinary amount of assistance to be able to replace the home they've lost. That's the impact you'll be making with your donation!
With a donation to HDA, here are just some examples of the flood survivors you'll be helping:
- A single mother and her 4 children who are currently living in their car,
- A displaced family living with relatives in Indiana who desperately want to return to East Kentucky,
- A family of 5 who have been living in a camper ever since the flood, and
- A young family currently living in a family member's garage.
This Giving Tuesday, as you pick a charity to support with a donation, please consider giving to the Housing Development Alliance. With us, your donation is used immediately, and you won't have to wait to see the impact you'll be making.
Whether you're looking for a way to give back to your community, or you're hoping to help a worthy cause in Appalachia - and you want to be a part of making a change you can see and experience - please don't forget the flood survivors of East Kentucky and help us build them new homes!
