Help Eastern Kentucky Rebuild!

Do you want to give a donation in support of Eastern Kentucky flood survivors but aren't sure exactly where your money is going? Do you want to donate to a fund that goes directly towards helping flood survivors? And do you want to see what your donation actually does?

If you answered yes to all of these questions, then donating to our Housing Can't Wait Disaster Recovery Fund is the perfect way for you to help flood survivors!

Our main goal is to help as many people as we can, as much as we can, and as fast as we can. According to a comprehensive study released in late February by the Ohio River Valley Institute, over 4,600 homes in Breathitt, Knott, and Perry counties - the 3 hardest hit counties we serve - have been majorly damaged or destroyed. Of this number, 432 homes have been destroyed and nearly 11,500 people have been directly impacted. The total cost to rebuild - in just 3 of the 4 counties we serve - is estimated at $529 million!

It will take years for Eastern Kentucky to recover. The most important thing right now is that we don't want people to forget us. Families are still living in FEMA travel trailers or doubling up with family, with some living in housing situations that were already overcrowded prior to the flood. While they are grateful for shelter, each one of them will tell you that they just want to go home. They need to have a proper home, and that's what the Housing Development Alliance wants to help them have!

But the need is so great that we can't help these families without you.

There isn't enough available funding to help build and repair so many homes for so many people. A gift from you today will be put to immediate use and will help:

  • Build new homes for flood survivors whose homes were destroyed or were so majorly damaged as to be uninhabitable without repairs.
  • Rehab homes for flood survivors whose homes sustained significant damage but are located outside of the floodplain and/or not in any flood-prone area and are structurally sound and can be saved.
  • Develop new rentals for flood survivors who need a more immediate housing solution.

We are currently working with over 150 flood survivors in need of a new home, and we have over 120 flood-impacted homeowners in our pipeline for home rehabs and repairs. That’s in addition to the 250 low-income families we’re currently working with towards income-based homeownership and over 100 low-income homeowners in our community in need of home repairs! As you can see, our builders are needed more now than ever before, and thanks to the support of people like you, we’ll be able to help these folks and many others.

Thank you for caring so much for our community. People like you truly make a difference in the world, and we’re so thankful for you!
